Welcome to the "TRAINS! - the screen saver" from Abracadata!
Installation
============
To install the screen saver to your hard drive, use the Windows program
manager (or any equivalent method) to run the SETUP program in the root
directory of the CD. For example:
- Double-click on the Program Manager icon, if necessary, to make the
Program Manager appear.
- Choose Run from the Program Manager's File menu.
- Type D:\SETUP, where "D" is the letter of your CD-ROM drive.
- Hit Enter, or click the Okay button.
Another way to start SETUP is to use your File Manager to display the root
directory of the CD, and double-click on SETUP.EXE.
Once the SETUP program starts, the installation process is self-explanatory.
You have the option to install any or all of the screen saver modules.
Installing all of the screen saver modules (with all of the enclosed
movies) requires 76 megabytes. If you are short of disk space, you may
wish to install only a few screen saver modules at a time.
The Movie Player module
=======================
We have enclosed 20 railroad oriented movies on the CD to run with the
Movie Player module. These are very large files however, as since digital
video (.AVI files) contain such large amounts of data. Since all of the
movie files could easily take up unnecessary hard drive space, there is a
dialog in the installation program that allows the user to select which
movie files should be installed. If you would like to preview the movie
files before installation, first install the "Video for window runtime"
files by running "VFWSETUP.EXE" that can be found in the \WINVIDEO directory
on the CD. Then simply double-click on the .AVI files found in the
\MOVIEPLY directory on the CD.
If you would like to change the movies that are shown with the movie player
module, it is easily customizable. Simply create a new .TRM file and list
the filenames (plus the full path to find the file) of the movies that you
would like to see. Then place that .TRM file in the MOVIEPLY directory on
your hard drive. Then select that .TRM file from the configuration dialog
of the movie player module. Please note that the movies must be in .AVI
format (Microsoft Video for Windows) in order to work.
The Slide Show module
=====================
If you would like to change the slides that are shown with the movie player
module, it is easily customizable. Simply create a new .TRL file and list
the filenames (plus the full path to find the file) of the slides that you
would like to see. Then place that .TRL file in the SLIDESHW directory on
your hard drive. Then select that .TRL file from the configuration dialog
of the slide show module. Please note that the slides must be in 8-bit
(256 color) .BMP format in order to work.
Installing the Demos
====================
The "TRAINS! the screen saver" CD contains demo versions of a number of
other fun products from Abracadata that you might want to try out. Select
"Install Demos" from the SETUP program menu for more information.
